Wormhole
Wormhole è il nuovo progetto discografico della band multietnica Med Free Orkestra, un album che spazia dalla della world music richiami jazz, pop, afrobeat e rock progressive.
Il Wormhole viene spesso definita galleria gravitazionale, cioè la dimensione gravitazionale strettamente interconnessa alle altre due dimensioni: spazio e tempo. Lo spazio e il tempo sono i due estremi che hanno contraddistinto il nostro lavoro, nato all’inizio della pandemia 2020. Lo spazio durante la pandemia era limitato, contingentato, assegnato, decretato, il tempo era infinito, i secondi, i minuti, le ore hanno assunto un valore diverso.
Con il produttore Francesco Fiore abbiamo pensato un concept che, partendo dalle suggestioni dell’opera di Renè Magritte (gli amanti) avesse potuto raccontare visivamente, in maniera non didascalica, l’idea dell’album.
Gli amanti avvolti dal velo, rappresentano il tempo e lo spazio, elementi essenziali per ogni essere umano, elementi fondamentali del nostro cammino sulla faccia della terra. Ho immaginato gli amanti che si sfiorano generando un legame indissolubile. Quella assolutezza, quella unicità l’ho rappresentata attraverso i fili colorati, esaltando quell’amore.
I modelli utilizzati per lo scatto di copertina sono Franck Armocida e Silvia Aprile, coppia nella foto e nella realtà, entrambi musicisti della Med Free Orkestra.
Wormhole is the new album by the multi-ethnic band Med Free Orkestra—a project that moves fluidly through world music, with influences of jazz, pop, afrobeat, and progressive rock.
The wormhole is often described as a gravitational tunnel, a dimension intrinsically linked to the other two: space and time. Space and time became the defining themes of our work, conceived at the beginning of the 2020 pandemic. During that period, space was limited, restricted, assigned, decreed—while time was infinite. Seconds, minutes, and hours took on a new meaning.
Together with producer Francesco Fiore, we developed a visual concept inspired by René Magritte’s painting The Lovers, to express the essence of the album in a way that was evocative rather than literal.
The lovers, their faces veiled, represent time and space—two essential elements of human existence and of our journey on Earth. I imagined them touching lightly, creating an unbreakable bond. That sense of absoluteness and uniqueness is conveyed through the use of colored threads, symbolizing the intensity of their connection.
The models featured on the album cover are Franck Armocida and Silvia Aprile—a couple both in the image and in real life, and both musicians of Med Free Orkestra..
